This book contains the location, primary project, and start and end dates of all 67 C.C.C. camps established in West Virginia. Roosevelt’s program to aid a country bankrupt in money and spirit employed nearly three million men, and left a legacy of countless federal and state parks, campgrounds, improved wildlife habitats, flood control and more. Harr has compiled this information with the help of actual participants in the camps. Information on the camps is organized with reference to the group in charge of each camp: the W.Va. Conservation Commission’s Division of Forestry and Division of State Parks; or the U.S. Dept. of Agriculture’s Forest Service and Soil Conservation Service.
