Frances Gunter retired after thirty-one years of teaching school in Cabell County, WV. During this time she received numerous awards. The Daughters of the American Revolution chose her as Cabell County American History Teacher of the Year in 1986 and won the state award for American History Teacher of the Year in 1987.
