Long before Mothman spread his wings over Point Pleasant, West Virginia, the region was already steeped in tragedy, violence, and mystery.

Nestled at the confluence of the Ohio and Kanawha Rivers, Point Pleasant began as a rugged frontier settlement where Native American legends, early settlers, and soldiers crossed paths. The bloody Battle of Point Pleasant in 1774 cast a long shadow over the land. In the years that followed, the town witnessed river disasters, unsolved deaths, devastating floods, strange creatures, and countless tales whispered from one generation to the next.
