Historical fiction based on the Middle Ground, an area between the Allegheny front and the Ohio River, and Pittsburgh and Kentucky, Long considered a hunting area by Native Americans, and owned by none, it was a land filed with elk, bison, bears, wolves, and panthers. The land offered al you could ever want with countless chestnut trees, fish and game.

The French came and lived and intermingled with the natives, which made them tolerable. But the English, Scots-Irish, Germans, and Dutch came and were determined to conquer it all.

The places in the book are all real, and many of the stories are based on true events.
